Established in Chipping Sodbury, Bristol in 1986, Originally “Standbrook Guides Ltd” set out to produce the most useful information handbook for all residents in well defined communities.

Originally it was not a book, but a map of the local area and local businesses placed adverts around the map.

The maps proved popular and the demand from local businesses to advertise increased so much that the maps were published in book form. As well as promoting local businesses and tradespeople, the book format was ideal for publishing useful local telephone numbers as well as the contact details of the area’s clubs, organisations and places of interest.

It proved to be an excellent medium in supporting local communities. It brings customers and businesses together and allows local organisations to reach out to local people.

We pride ourselves on the accuracy of the Residents’ HANDBOOK Each year we contact all the entries to ensure that the information we publish is as reliable as we can possibly make it. We also use our social media pages to reach out to our 30,000 followers, who continually supply us with updates and new contacts.

Each year, 40 local editions of the Residents’ HANDBOOK (known by many as The Little Green Book) are printed and distributed free of charge to over 1/2 million local residents in over 100 towns and villages in South Wales, the West of England and East Anglia.

In December 2022, Standbrook Guides and the Residents’ HANDBOOK was acquired by Local Pages.
